ITV Homes from Hell Needs You
The very successful ITV Homes from Hell series is looking from case studies from the UK and Dubai. If you would like to appear on TV telling the world about your new build problems then get in contact with them. Some people are reluctant to do this, but in general it will get your issues the attention they deserve and all the snagging issues sorted out much sooner.
Here is the message:
Have you bought or built your dream house only to realise the dream is more of a nightmare? Has your new build come with more faults than fixtures, or have you rented out your property to the tenants from hell? Did you build your ideal home in good faith, only to have planning permission denied or revoked? If you have a story you would like the Homes From Hell team to investigate then please get in touch.
We are also looking for stories from the Middle East – have you invested in your dream holiday apartment in DUBAI only to find it unfinished or falling down around your ears? Or did you wait years for a development to be completed only to find it didn’t quite live up to what you expected?
If any of this sounds familiar then contact Victoria Thake on victoria (dot) thake @ ITV (dot) com or 020 7157 4276.

My parents home has some deep cracks and from last year the insurers is giving false hope that they are coming to put right the cracks.
The cracks are getting wider and more appearing.
My parents are old and I am very concerned for their safety. I have asked them to move out and come stay with us but because they dont want to leave without knowing what will happen to their home they are staying put.
Watching your programme last night I have decided to contact you on their behalf. Hope you will help I am desperate.

Hello,
We have a new build home, england. only been in it since march 2008, that winter we suffered from very bad mould and damp throughout the house. there are other snagging issues that are ongoing and basically, we have had enough. we want to sue them for the undue stress, and we want the cowboy developers to take the property back. This is how bad they are, they GLUED a light bulb in place. now the bulb has blown and we need to replace it, but cannot without breaking the lot. they have had to replace the bathroom extract fan 3 times, it still leaks now. we now await further report to determine if the damp is coming from the floor, if so this is further structural damp to the blocked cavities and will require total refurbishment.
can anyone sugguest a lawyer? can anyone help? this has truly ruined our life.
Thank you.

hi we built our own home 4 years ago and now we have discovered that the joiner has not made the link from damp proof membrane to damp proof course and we now have extensive dry rot which he refuses to accept as his responsibility.

Hi. I purchased a ‘luxury apartment’ in May 2005, part of a converted mill development of 9 similar homes. Unfortunatley I have had problems from the start, mostly regarding the roof. Condensation in the roof space, caused by no ventilation and a single skin roof. This cause problems with lights and electrics and have had frozen pipes in winter. We have no fire doors, broken fire breaks etc. We have discovered asbestos pipes ( possibly due to being an old industrial building) Window problems, the list is endless. However we have been trying to bring the builder/contractor/architect to account for a long time, with no success. We have had a surveyors report prepared stating the building is not fit for purpose and instructed a solicitor, but appear to be hitting a brick wall! Hopefully the local councils planning department will respond to our plea , although as they signed off the unfit building on xmas eve 2004 (? Bizzare, considering most offices are shut!) I doubt we will get any joy at all. Any ideas how we can bring these rouges to
justice?
We live in hope..
