Kelly’s Redrow Home
We have been in our Redrow “House From Hell” for 16 months and are finally laying our first flooring (tiled kitchen). We are still living out of cardboard boxes and are about to pay 3k out of our own pockets (all of our savings…) to have our upstairs floors fixed as the beams are at different heights across the house making the chipboard floors badly unlevel (our last remaining major fault with the house, redrow eventually conceded a fault existed & botched the repair & left it as it was).
We have suffered the same repeated botched repair attempts for every fault with our donwstairs concrete floors being screeded a total of 7 times before an outside contractor finally fixed the entire botttom floor (eigth repair) as all the concrete was also so badly unlevel that floor coverings couldnt be laid. We still have carpet and vinyl waiting in the store warehouses (after a year 3 months they arent too happy either).

Kelly is not alone in experiencing Redrows lack of commitment to customer service and rectifying poor and shoddy workmanship since going PLC there has been a constant slide downwards in quality.
It took 2 years to bring our property to a BASIC standard having to fight continuously even to the extent of picketing the sales office and handing out details to prospective customers.
Anyway will not bore you with details but would suggest you visit http://redrowphotoalbum.blogspot.com

It is really difficult to redraw the homes, but if we work with a proper planning and use good material then there are very short chances of loss.

It took 2 years for them to accept that the foundation was faulty, remedial work carried out. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks, 6 months down the line still not in. Still unhappy with shoddy workmanship. I have had to fight the whole time even the threat of press and watchdog doesnt bother them. It was recommended by an engineer employed by them that it would be prudent to do another geotechnical investigation on our plot to eliminate any further risk. Redrow refuse to do this as they feel the remedial work supercedes the need for it. The fight continues my health is suffering from the sheer stress of dealing with them. The biggest investment of our lives.

I would like to add my hell of buying a Redrow house in september 2010, at Middlebank Rise in Dunfermline. We never had the luxury of viewing a show house & were sold the house on the brochure specification & the sales representative’s competency & honesty. Anyway, the day we moved in,all was realed, as bedroom 3 was 3 feet shorter than what was advertised & Redrow were informed of this miss leading advert & since then,we have been to trading standards. We have at least 50 faults in the house, ranging from faulty staircase to having 8 double glazed units replaced, which as a result, has left us with different windows around the house. Our gas boiler was serviced by Scottish Gas,who informed us that the boiler was not up to all standards, covering the flu not sealed & not at correct distance from objects exterior, condensate pipe,no lagging to flow & return pipes. We are now taking our story to the media/national papers,as we feel that we have been miss sold this property & now stuck with this house. Watch this space,as all will be revealed.

Redrow failed the customer.

Hi Gary, like you I bought a redrow house in 2007. It took all of 2yrs to rectify faults
including changing the central heating systemfrom gas to oil. the electric boilers to run a wet system were inadequate and were burning out. still redrow took at least 12months to agree that there was a major fault.
the insulation is rubbish, doors don’t fit properly, windows are not straight and so i could go on & on.certainly redrows brochures do not reflect the truth when the claim there houses are built to a high standard!!!!!!!!

Sandie

I purchased a redrow home in oct 2010, only the other day Feb 20th 2011 did they complete my parking space. Now this might not seem major but fact I had my first baby in oct so we had to walk him over 200yards just to get him into the car. As a result I have had to pay for a change in my and my partners insurance policys which isnt really my fault – as we used to have are parking set on insurance to in a drive way. I contacted Suzanne Irons eastern sales director, she replied saying sorry for the hassle I;ve experiened but we wont help to pay towards the cost of insurance and she said that it was due to other third parties as to why it was so delays.
I wasnt even told the parking would be delayed into the DAY i moved in, and they told me it would be 2 weeks, then 2 months and then it turned out to be 5 months.
Be careful if you are buying a redrow home, they are rushed like mad and they are happy to move you in whilst its still being worked on. I havent been able to have one day lay in as the builders are right outside drilling slabs etc.
Please dont be fooled by their sales staff as they are just trying to get themselves some commision.
also the house is cracking up, and they do this on purpose as you have one month to sort out snags, problem is that the cracks will appear in 2 to 5 months time so your be buggered if you think they will help out. The snag visit we had was from the site foreman, he used to tell us hes coming on a day and then never turn up. All he done for the snags was slapped some paint over, and he didnt even finish that off.
DO NOT SIGN THE PAPER UNTIL YOU ARE 100% SURE EVERYTHING IS OK AS THEY WILL BE REALLY FRIENDLY AND POP ROUND ALL THE TIME – BUT ONCE YOY SIGN YOU NEVER HEAR FROM THEM AGAIN!
