Well, CN’s surveyor’s have finally got in touch (if you’re keeping track that’s taken them four days since they were last chased), and that’s now booked for next Thursday. That’s almost certainly going to delay exchange, which, until now, was provisionally pushed back to the fourth of June.

That’s not the only thing contributing to the delay though…

The paperwork from Alliance and Leicester came through yesterday, ready for me to sign and send back.

Or so I thought. It turns out that the Direct Debit form is missing, and without this nothing further happens. And no, they can’t fax it to me, nor can they e-mail a PDF of it to me — they’ve got to send it by post. So, given the urgency with which the Royal Mail typically treats these things I’m not expecting it much before Thursday.

I’m still waiting for Crest Nicholson to carry out the survey on my place. Since the whole part-exchange on that is a pre-requisite of the purchase on the new place this needs to happen soonish.

I chased CN about this today — the excuse is that their surveyors lost the paperwork, or some such, and that it needs to be rebooked. It’s now coming up to 10pm in the evening and there’s been no call from them chasing me to get it booked.

So it looks like the original exchange date of the end of this month isn’t going to be reached. That’s not a huge problem, and I was expecting this to slip anyway, but it would be nice to deal with someone in this whole process who didn’t need chasing all the time.
