[Catching up on last week's activitities]

Tomorrow’s moving day. I’ve got the removal people booked (1st Ever Ready Removals) and my house is all packed up. It looks like a cardboard fetishist’s wet dream at the moment.

I’ve just had the call from the solicitors to say that we’ve finally exchanged contracts. You wouldn’t believe how much effort that’s been over the last few days. I’ve got copious notes to put up here, but it’s been so busy that I’ve not had the time yet. More detail to follow tomorrow.

Yes, I know I’m moving home, and now, so is the blog. Those nice people over at New Build Inspections have decided to sponsor some blogs, and this is the first one. The blog’s new home is at http://www.newhomeblogs.co.uk/weblog1/.

Had Becky from Orchard & Shipman over yesterday to do some measurements and take some photos. That took about 45 minutes. Fortunately I telecommute almost all the time, so this hasn’t been too much of a disruption.

I’ve tried having a poke around RightMove and related sites but I can’t see my house on there yet…

But whatever they did it’s sparked some interest. They’re bringing someone around later today to take a look at the place.

Amusingly, today’s the day that one of my neighbours and I agreed that he’d be in my back garden replacing all his fences. And on the other side of the garden my gardener’s busily putting up my replacement fencing. So the garden currently looks very unattractive. On the plus side, at least the buyer will see the work that’s going in to the place.

I’ve just glanced up from the computer screen to look out at my front driveway and noticed that, at some point between crashing asleep last night and struggling into the office this morning, someone from a local estate agents has been round and stuck up a “For Sale” sign.

I guess that makes this all official…

Just had the man from Haart around to value the place. I was expecting to show him around, answer a few questions, and wave him off after five minutes (which is what the two previous valuers had done). But this chap proceeded to get busy, measuring the rooms, taking photos, and so on. I wonder what that implies.

Didn’t manage to extract a valuation figure from him, but I’ll get that from his office later today.
