Site Manager meeting
A few days after reservation, we were contacted to arrange two meetings. One with the site manager and another with Homestyle, the dept which deals with upgrades and options to our new home.
Anyway, day comes when we get to meet the site manager. He’s just been to see another couple and obviously a little tired out from talking for the past hour or so. Nevertheless, he welcomed us and set off to reel off the usual why we’re doing this, how good Laing is with customers etc.
He pulls out the plans and explains to us how construction of our home is going. There’s been a fire recently, we were advised, due to an arson attack. No worries, everything is going back to foundations and will be tested before they start rebuilding from scratch. Great.. completion will be pushed back a couple of months. We’re not too worried since we’re not in any rush to move.
He goes on to tell us how the property is constructed. It’s a timber-frame construction and he assures us it’s quick and easy to assemble and totally safe when it comes to fire-proofing. Lots of information is thrown at us over the next hour, we can hardly keep up. We’re also told we will be invited to the site one Sat in summer to view various stages of completion. Cool!
He tells us that their bonus is dependent on a questionaire that we have to fill out about 2 or 3 weeks after we move in to our new place. Hmm… I feel a little pressure to make sure I ‘tick the right boxes’ when it comes to it. He assures me that he’s just joking, but I don’t think so.
Oh well, looking forward to that onsite visit in summer. Next up - Homestyle!
