Show home ready!!
Having heard nothing for ages, I went back online to see if they had any new information. To my surprise, they’ve got the insides of the new show home online. So over the weekend, we trooped over to inspect the site.
Our side of the block hasn’t yet been built, still will be next year before it’ll be ready to move into. Nevertheless, our neighbour of sorts’ block is half ready, so we were given the okay to inspect. It’s identical to what we’re buying in terms of size and it’s just the opposite layout (i.e. left to right, right to left). Anyway, we noticed something odd.. there’s a second door between our front door and the corridor. When asked, the site manager said that this additional door is a change in the plans recently due to buildings regulations - something to do with fire safety.
No idea if this new door will be lockable, though unlikely. The powers upstairs have failed to notify this to us. The floorplans have changed, and it’s made the flat overall smaller then what we’ve expected. Admitted it’s not a lot, but it was the area we were planning to hang up our coats and put our shoes away in. *sigh*, so we’ve whizzed off a letter to sales to see what they say.
Show homes itself were great - they had a one bed and a two bed apartment on show. A little bummed that the show home owners (they’ve bought the flat) will get to keep the new flooring and fittings for free. I suppose ground floor wasn’t really my first choice, so oh well…
