Gas leak
Well it is the morning after the night before.
My fiance and I have been smelling gas for months in the bathroom. We discovered last night that the gas pipes under the floorboards are iron and there is a connection that is not sealed and we have a gas leak. This is going to be major work to repair as the pipes are not copper (as they normally are in domestic properties)and therefore cannot be soldered so if you move one joint all joints move and all joints will have to be screwed in and tightened again.
This means lifting the floors where the joints are. Good job we are just living out the living room for the moment. We still have a lot of stuff in one bedroom. The rest are empty for the florr repairs. We have no room or time to move the stuff elsewhere.
The gas has been switched off until someone from customer service arrives to repair the fault. They are coming sometime today to have a look at it but it looks as though we will need a plumber to remove the toilet and sink and a carpenter to take up the floorboards.
We have no hot water or heating. This is not funny in the middle of October in Scotland in a house with bare concrete floors.
